Luck of the Irish

Luck of the Irish started in 2000 with the purpose of raising enough money to add a playground to the school that was built after the tornado.  There was a silent and LIVE auction, meal, games and a raffle drawing.  The first year LOI raised $80,000+!  It was such a success and fun that parent volunteers have kept it going without many changes for all these years.

Luck of the Irish is our schools biggest fundraiser, bringing in around $50,000 for our school general fund and special projects that we call Fund-A-Need.  This fundraiser relies on our parents to plan, donate, run and support it - as it is part of our fundraising obligation.  In the past couple years we have started to make small changes in an effort to keep the event vibrant and fun.  Last year we added a small program with awards, a catered meal and new fun games.  We also started to change the overall look of Luck of the Irish to a more formal event, which some might call a Gala style event.

Consider a gift today in support of the JI Playground Improvement Campaign. Last year's contributions allowed us to purchase a swing set and tire swing along with expanding the existing playground with border timbers and fresh woodchips. We hope to check off a few more items for our students with this year's campaign, including a rock climbing wall and outdoor shelter/classroom. This is a multi-year project. Thank you for your gifts in support of outdoor education and recreation at John Ireland School.
